Hawkwind will not be playing the Mod Club tomorrow, and if you read between the lines, it’s pretty clear who the band is blaming for this postponement.

Well OK, maybe I can. But either way, Vista Chino put on a pretty solid set at The Phoenix last night.
I forgot that our brave legislators only listen to bands like the Eagles and Supertramp. Cuz with their new amendments to the country’s labour laws, Stephen Harper and company are making it so that crusty classic rockers and pre-fabricated pop tarts could be the only artists to ever come to Canada…
To date, I have never seen Black Sabbath live–Heaven and Hell notwithstanding. Of course, I know that their bassist isn’t the only geezer in the band anymore, and they’ve got some nobody on drums for this tour, but hey, I can’t help but be at least a little excited for the gig at the ACC on Wednesday.

I have a few fond memories of the College St. Mexican restaurant/indie-rock dive bar, not all of which involve underage drinking. But aside from a handful local shows, there’s rarely been anything heavier than Hot Little Rocket (look ’em up) home, home on the Ranch… until now.
Blame Gary Bettman. Normally, the NHL playoffs end just in time for North by Northeast, but with the lockout pushing everything back, the puck drops on Game 2 tonight with the festival in full swing…
Anyways, warming the unseasonably cold wastelands of Toronto tonight is a terrific touring package featuring Torche, KEN Mode and Lo-Pan. It feels like I haven’t seen Torche in a long time, but turns out I last caught ’em last summer when they toured with COC…
