Hellbound Metal: Radio playlist for the Sunday, August 4th edition of Hellbound Radio, broadcast live on INDI 101 FM in Hamilton ON
Here are some of my photos from Thursday and Friday of this year’s MDF. I submitted a few photos of each band that Jay H. Gorania wrote about. Here are all the ones submitted to Hellbound. Cheerz…
“If you’re a fan of extreme metal and you live in North America, it’s likely that you have a strong impulse to attend the continent’s biggest annual festival: Maryland Deathfest. Actually attending the fest, however, isn’t always possible, especially if you live thousands of miles away.”
Part one of Jay H. Gorania’s recap of Maryland Deathfest 2012, with live photos by Albert Mansour.
Relapse has remastered the album and it sounds phenomenal compared to the original. The instruments are crystal clear and the drums and bass have more weight to them giving the music more depth.
“The setlist was great: Perfectly selected songs from his solo stuff, like “Let Me Hear You Scream,” “Crazy Train,” “Bark at the Moon,” and “Mr. Crowley” and some Black Sabbath tunes like “Faries Wear Boots” and of course, “War Pigs.” I haven’t followed his solo career too much since I was about 11 or 12 when one of my older brothers (who is now a classical musician) brought home his first solo album, so this was a great set list for those who were enamored with the legend more than his musical catalogue.”

Here is what we played on the Sunday, November 21st edition of HELLBOUND RADIO
Hellbound readers, we’re sure that by now you are all familiar with our Natalie Zed, right? Natalie was our big grand prize winner way back in January, taking home more than 50 CDs + and shortly after she received her huge box ‘o CDs, Ms. Zed asked us over at Hellbound HQ if we’d be interested in running reviews of her winnings if she did postcard sized reviews of the albums. How could we say no?
So, after a long layoff (sorry NZ!), here is Natalie’s fourth installment (reviews #31 – 40 for those keeping stats at home) in what Hellbound likes to refer to as “Postcards From Natalie Zed”…
After tonight’s show we now know why Dying Fetus deserve to be a bonafide headliner. Holy fuck! What a ferocious machine these guys are live. They have the songs and riffs and you cannot get any tighter than they are right now.
Like to win things? Looking to add a little more quality metal to your collection just before Christmas? Yeah, us too! Well, courtesy of the fine folks over at Relapse Records, Hellbound.ca has three (3) fantastic Relapse Records holiday gift packs to give away containing four brand new Relapse releases and a super cool art print lithograph of the new Baroness album artwork! More details inside.
I have to admit that one of the reasons why I pitched Hellbound.ca a concert review of the Planetary Depravity Tour was because I wanted to see Dying Fetus guitarist John Gallagher and guitarist Michael Keene from The Faceless play live. Would they be able to pull their dexterous guitar feats off or were they simply studio tricks? Does Gallagher look as evil and demented as he sounds? Inquiring minds wanted to know.
