CAULDRON / HOLY GRAIL / ENTROPIA / BLACK WIZARD @ The Media Club, Vancouver BC, April 19, 2011

“Opening with the mighty ‘All Or Nothing’, Cauldron were in fine form as expected, their brand of Banzai-worshipping eighties metal as good live as on tape. Say all you want about Canada and power trios, but damn, Cauldron have it down pat, the three of them playing off each other like old pros, Decay and Chains even getting into vaguely-choreographed guitar mimics at one point.”

Pounding Metal: Cauldron Seeks Burning Fortune

“We’re real life. We are just fans of heavy metal that care more about the music we’re fond of than anything else. Times, change, dates (can) fuck off. In regards to the album overall, we just had more time to write this one, demo it, rehearse it as a band and to record it. All that combined with knowing what you’re going for really makes a difference.”

On the eve of the release of their sophomore album Burning Fortune, Keith Carman interviews Jay Decay of Toronto metal trio CAULDRON.

Raven / Cauldron / Skullfist @ The Wreckroom, Toronto ON, September 16th, 2010

It was fascinating to watch this legendary NWOBHM band perform after Cauldron and Skullfist had already worked the audience over. The only word to appropriately describe the experience is “educational.” This is the aesthetic that the younger bands are going for; this is the original template they’re paying homage to.”

Natalie Zed shares her evening with original and modern classic heavy metallers, Skullfist, Cauldron, and the legendary Raven. Photos by Albert Mansour.
