Slagduster – Deadweight

I have heard a lot of original monikers for bands in my time, but Slagduster is one of the most original (it’s the name of a piece of mine machinery from over a century ago). This four-piece from Grand Forks, B.C., plays progressive metal in the vein of Gojira, Voivod, Sikth, Meshuggah, Dillinger Escape Plan, and Between The Buried And Me. There is a growing audience for this kind of music, and Slagduster do it well. Their music also has a pleasing groove to it, which I think will open them up to a wider audience. Interestingly, their almost jazzy time changes brought to mind Watchtower. These songs are well crafted and played, and will appeal to fans of the above bands.
