FOR THE LOVE OF METAL
When Udo Dirkschneider and company played a two-hour set of Accept classics here last year, it was one of my favourite shows of 2017. At the time, I said I no longer needed to catch U.D.O. or Accept in concert again…but when I saw he was bringing back his namesake band for another kick of the can, I figured it was worth seeing twice!
This shindig was billed Farewell to Accept, and it was a proper farewell tour–with a 90-minute set and a four-song encore that covered all the classics from I’m a Rebel to Russian Roulette.
So when U.D.O. first announced his North American solo tour back in January, I knew I had to be there. I’ve had the opportunity to see Accept three times since their 2010 reunion, but I’ve never seen the original voice of Accept. And that’s no knock on Mark Tornillo, who has filled in admirably in both the vocal and the height department…
