Day three of this year’s 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise started off at Grand Turk with fun in the sun and continued into the late hours, with live sets from Metal Church, Helloween, Nile, Immolation, Doro and many, many more

After attending Barge to Hell in December, I had absolutely no idea that I’d be returning to Miami some five weeks later to the same port, the same ship, the same crew even, to cover the third annual 70,000 Tons of Metal. But as anyone will tell you, when you have a chance to go on the craziest cruise around, let alone one of the very best metal festivals in the world, you don’t pass it up.

Blessed with a phenomenal level of skill and impressive forward thinking attitude, Monuments don’t deserve to be written off as trend-hoppers and “Gnosis” will have the naysayers eating their dust for a while to come.
“I’ve always credited Finland’s Children of Bodom with helping to further my interest and involvement in metal, and in all those years I’ve seen them live a countless number of times. Somehow though, this show felt different. It felt special. Whether it was the ravenous crowd, my nostalgic mood, or the fact that this was the band’s 15th anniversary tour, the moment I heard the opening riffs of “Sixpounder” I just couldn’t stop smiling.”

Jason Wellwood reviews the new self-titled third album by Threat Signal and then interviews Jon Howard about the new album, touring internationally and their upcoming tour in 2012 North American tour with Children Of Bodom.
It’s special guest time again this weekend on Hellbound Radio! This Sunday night we will be joined in the INDI 101 studios by Toronto heavy metal trio CAULDRON to talk about the band, their debut album Chained To The Nite and metal in general. We’ll be spinning music from CAULDRON and have also asked them to bring in some of their own favourite CDs to spin on the show.
The problems I have with this record can be summed up in a few simple words: I’ve heard this all before.
This week we had some special guests in for the first hour of Hellbound Radio. Jon, Travis and Adam from THREAT SIGNAL dropped by to spin some tracks from their upcoming new album Vigilance, which will be released by Nuclear Blast on September 8th. They also have a hometown CD release party in Hamilton at the Casbah on Friday, September 5th; if you are in the are don’t miss it. Here’s the whole playlist for the show.
