Since Hellbound.ca is a Canadian-owned and operated metal publication, we do things a little bit different than most. While 2012 was coming to a close we asked all of our contributors to pick their Top Canadian metal albums of the year. We then tabulated up their responses and have created our fourth annual Top 10 Canadian Metal Albums writers poll.
Please check out what our writers feel to be the best Canadian metal albums released in 2012.
In December all Hellbound contributors were given the opportunity to vote for their favourite Canadian metal albums of 2012. Here are the individual lists that were submitted, then tabulated by Adrien Begrand to make our Top 10 Canadian metal albums of 2012. Enjoy!
While I initially joked that the price of the Kyuss Lives New Year’s Eve gig was a joke, I eventually gave in and bought myself a 200-dollar ticket. I don’t normally go out for NYE–frankly, I think it’s a rather pointless holiday–but I figured that for the founding fathers of stoner rock, I could make an exception. KISS has been providing songs which cater to that affection for forty years and their wellspring of inspiration is in no danger of drying up, as Monster proves.
Review by Ola Mazzuca Reading, England technical death metal up-and-comers Sylosis recently toured the US with Lamb of God. And what a fine time it…
Death metal is becoming such a saturated genre that a new band may feel the need to stand out by doing something completely off the map. But I feel it’s just as important to simply stand up. Auroch hold their own with solid chops, memorable riffs and killer vocals.
For the past few years, White Cowbell Oklahoma’s Christmas show has always been an event I’ve marked on my calendar. Toronto’s most outrageous, over-the-top live band usually has something special up their sleeves around this time of year, and this year is no exception. Mind you, they’ve scheduled things a week later this time to coincide with… the end of the world!
