Just a little reminder to anyone that hasn’t voted that today (Friday, January 15th) is your LAST CHANCE to enter our bitchin’ year end contest. You have until midnight Eastern Standard Time tonight to win our fantastic prize, which has now grown to 50 CDs (many of them autographed), two (2) 7″s, two (2) shirts, three (3) autographed posters, a dog tag and a few more goodies too.
Now I am not usually a betting man, but tonight I am making an exception. My pal Eli Shaika over at Relapse Records dropped me an email this afternoon, asking me if I would be willing to have a friendly wager on tonight’s game. Now Mr. Shaika is a man who knows his hockey. He is a diehard Philadelpha Flyers fan (much like our own Rob Kachluba is) and gets the game, something I can’t always say for most American sports fans. So when he asked me if I’d be into a bet, how could I refuse?
Let’s get 2010 underway with a bang! What better way to get your year off to a good start than with a contest. To help celebrate the end of 2009 and the beginning of both a new year and a new decade, we’ve asked some of our favourite labels to help us welcome 2010 and what a bang it is!
Since Hellbound.ca is a Canadian-owned and operated metal publication, we thought we’d do things a little differently than most. As 2009 quickly is coming to a close, we asked all of our contributors to pick their Top 5 Canadian metal albums of the year. We then tabulated up their responses and have created our first annual Top 10 Canadian Metal Albums of 2009 writers poll.
Hellbound.ca’s good friend Adrian Bromley passed away one year ago today, on December 7th, 2008. Sean Palmerston discusses his friendship with Adrian and remembers his dear friend and colleague.
Like to win things? Looking to add a little more quality metal to your collection just before Christmas? Yeah, us too! Well, courtesy of the fine folks over at Relapse Records, Hellbound.ca has three (3) fantastic Relapse Records holiday gift packs to give away containing four brand new Relapse releases and a super cool art print lithograph of the new Baroness album artwork! More details inside.
I originally wrote this interview for Canada’s EXCLAIM! in June, 1996 but they no longer archive back that far on their website, so I thought I’d make it available here again. I did this interview with Brian Patton upon the release of Dopesick, which I still think is one of their best releases ever.
Hey, Hellbound.ca has been nominated for an award! We’ve been nominated for Website/Online Publication in the 2009 Hamilton Music Awards, which is taking place next weekend here in Hamilton, ON, Canada.
In their previous house, Mr. Kachluba had a nice little room to display his limited edition mailorder boxed set, picture disc LPs, CD collection and vast button collection, but in the new Chez Kachluba this lucky fellow has nearly the entire basement in a huge L shaped room – most of which is dedicated to his love of metal. The rest of the shrine also contains a projection television and kick ass surround sound system, on which Rob, Albert and I took in a viewing of the amazing-in-its-own-right Anvil: The Story Of Anvil DVD.
Legendary Toronto thrashers SACRIFICE will be interviewed live on tonight’s November 15th edition of Hellbound Radio on INDI 101. All four members of the band will be present for the interview, which will air live in the greater Hamilton ON area at 9 PM Eastern on 101.5 FM. Those not in the area can also listen to the show online at http://www.indifm.ca or http://radiotime.com/station/s_24659/C1015_FM.aspx .
