Happy 25th birthday to… Sacrifice’s Forward To Termination!

By Sean Palmerston

Today, October 12th, is the 25th anniversary of the release of Forward to Termination, the sophomore album by Scarborough ON thrash metal quartet Sacrifice! Originally released on this date in 1987 through Diabolic Force/Fringe (and later on in the USA through Metal Blade and Europe through RoadRacer), the album contains the band’s big Much Music video hit “Reanimation”, which was played a shitload back in the day. It was in regular rotation! Much Music actually played videos back then! Here it is:

As some of you may know, I do have a professional relationship with the band now so I am not going to go into this album from a critical standpoint, but if you like great eighties thrash metal and have never heard this one then I suggest going out and getting a copy of it come hell or high water. Here’s a few more youtube clips to check out too:

  • I directed the “Re-Animation video (and later “Soldiers of Mis-Fortune.”) I was a junior editor at Much at the time and did this just for fun. In those days they were short of metal videos, especially Can-con metal videos so that was very fortuitious for Sacrifice to have a video. So many vclips at the time had all kinds of elaborate story lines and bad acting by musicians-all I wanted was to see a band playing the song and no other BS. A simple idea a bit ahead of its time-ha ha!

Hey, would anybody be able to verify that “Forward To Termination” was actually released on October 12th that year? I have read that on metal-archives.com, but if you have some old magazine or other document that you could photograph to prove it, I’d greatly appreciate it. October 12th is my birthday, you see. Do you know if there were any other metal albums released that day? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
